Officer Profile
Anishka Nagarimadugu
Bentonville High School
Grade: 12
Number of Years in HOSA: 3
I believe I would be a good leader due to my experiences having leadership roles in school and cultural settings. Through these responsibilities, I was able to strengthen my communication skills and public speaking skills while also learning more about people from different backgrounds and walks of life. Another important quality I have is the ability to listen to others. As a leader, one has to listen to other people's opinions and ideas before coming to a decision; this mindset promotes a healthy environment where everyone is given equal opportunities to feel seen and heard. Another quality would definitely be my sense of humor and positive attitude which I think is very important in order to create a safe environment where teammates can talk to you about concerns and conflicts. That same positive thinking also allows for easier conflict resolution. Lastly, the ability to represent a group of people or a cause whether it's a cultural group, issues faced by one's community or even an organization such as HOSA, is an extremely important quality that I possess. My ability to speak for a group of people and make the underrepresented populations feel seen and heard is a powerful skill that is developed over years of leadership experience and responsibilities.

Why do you want to be a HOSA State Officer?
As a person who grew up in India for most of my life, my move to the US was a life changing decision. Throughout this move, I had to overcome challenges such as the struggle of making new relationships in a different country, adjusting to a new environment, and even racism which made me a stronger and a more outspoken version myself. This change also made me realize my love for talking to and learning about new people from different walks of life; and what better place to do that than HOSA! HOSA being a medical organization is also a huge reason I want to be one of the state officers for it! I realized I wanted to go into the medical field when I was volunteering at nursing homes and assisted livings; I found myself always wanting to help and talk to residents, learning about their perspectives and ideas, while also having a love for science and the human body. This love made me want to join this amazing organization and become an officer representing hundreds and thousands of kids with the same passion as mine. Lastly, my experience being in leadership positions for school clubs and cultural groups gave me the confidence, positive and understanding personality, and conflict resolution skills a good leader should have making me more suitable for this role!
